Sustainability – a key component of our business strategy

Our sustainability strategy is based on three central pillars: innovative and environmentally friendly technologies, resource-efficient process and production technologies, and a value-oriented company culture with social responsibility.

Innovative and environmentally friendly technologies

Our innovative products meet the highest ecological standards and are made under the strictest environmental regulations. They are synonymous with sustainability – not only setting new benchmarks but also supporting our customers to make a significant technical contribution to improving human health and safety.

Resource-efficient process and production technologies

We rely on advanced, resource-efficient process and production technologies to play our part in resolving global challenges, such as climate change. We therefore focus on reducing emissions and using both resources and energy efficiently to reduce the strain on the environment as much as possible.

Value-oriented company culture and social responsibility

Our employees are our greatest asset. We instill a company culture built on ethical values, diversity, and sustainable growth. We believe that continuous support and development are key to long-term success. We therefore commit to maintain ethical standards, as well as to actively promote and apply these to all areas of the business.

Our aim – our responsibility: net zero in 2045

We have a clear aim for 2030: complete carbon neutrality for *scope 1 and 2 emissions. We are constantly working on reducing emissions in our business processes. Here’s a few examples of what we are already doing:

  • Increasing energy efficiency in all production processes
  • Ensuring carbon neutrality with the energy that we buy or produce, such as electricity, gas, and fuels
  • Developing innovative, environmentally friendly products with the aim of constantly reducing their energy consumption
  • Minimizing the recycling process for our products
  • Continuously reducing CO2 with sustainable business models, particularly recycling old units

Our comprehensive environmental strategy is based on our aim to consistently reduce greenhouse gas emissions to achieve net-zero emissions by 2045. We are pursuing the following steps to achieve scope 3:

Upstream emissions:

  • Ensuring that all goods and services that we buy are produced or rendered in a climate-neutral manner
  • Ensuring that our buildings, production facilities, and capital goods use energy-efficient technologies and environmentally friendly materials
  • Reducing emissions in transport and distribution by suppliers
  • Reducing waste during operations
  • Minimizing business trips
  • Reducing emissions caused by our employees’ commutes

Downstream emissions:

  • Reducing emissions for transporting goods to our customers
  • Developing energy-efficient products to minimize our customers’ consumption
  • Making all the products we sell and their packaging fully recyclable

Our commitment in facts & figures

Production & technologies

  • Most of the energy we need is provide by our own company photovoltaic system and by recovering the waste heat from air compressors.
  • Energy-saving LED bulbs are largely used in the production building.
  • A geothermal heating and cooling system also shows our commitment to the environment.
  • We are constantly optimizing our production processes to save more energy.
  • We also regularly get suggestions for improvements in our DIN 14001 and DIN 50001 audits, which we implement in a supportive manner.

  • We ensure that our environmental simulation chambers are built to last – the product design is effective, they are simple to repair, and we ensure that spare parts are available.
  • We implement modular designs so that customers can replace individual parts instead of throwing away the entire product.

  • We have reduced the energy consumption of our new climate chambers by up to 40% compared to the previous model.

  • We use environmentally friendly foam insulation in all simulation chambers with a cooling function and freezers.
  • The housing of our climate chambers is made of fully galvanized sheet steel and is coated with specially developed paints that minimize the burden on the environment as much as possible.
  • All of our chambers feature a recyclable high-quality stainless-steel interior.
  • We have switched to natural refrigerants such as CO2 isobutane or propane in the new climate chambers in line with the EU F-gas Regulation to minimize the greenhouse effect.
  • We use environmentally friendly thermoelectric cooling in our ECO series cooling incubators.

Supply chain & waste management

  • We select suppliers who use sustainable practices and who can be transparent with consumers when it comes to the origins of the materials (conflict materials, REACH, RoHS).
  • Our suppliers must sign our suppliers’ code of conduct.

  • We promote concepts for reusing and recycling products and materials in a closed cycle.
  • We always separate wood, metal, foil, plastic, oils, paper, and residues of hazardous substances.
  • We have reduced paper consumption by 70% by digitalizing our work processes.
  • We use fully recyclable packaging material.
  • 99.7% waste was non-hazardous waste
